Burt 'n' Joyce
Written by Mark Whiteley

Touring Nationally: 1 September - 28 November 2009
Small - Mid Scale
1, 2 or 3 Nights

They are Burt and Joyce Priory, an ordinary couple, in an ordinary charity shop on an ordinary Street, but they are about to have the most extraordinary days of their lives.

Charity Begins At Home is the story of two charity workers, who discover more than they bargained when they turn up for an ordinary day at the shop. It is a heart-warming comedy about relationships, hard cash and fig rolls!

Set entirely in a charity shop it focuses on an ordinary working class couple on one of the most extra-ordinary days of their lives. Whilst rummaging through the shops donations for the day, they happen upon 2 Ski Masks, £15,000 and a handgun.

Burt's initial idea is to keep the money, buy a caravan on the east coast and chuck the gun in the river, but Joyce has a different view.

After much deliberation and many laughs they decide to keep the money and gift it to the local elderly population, Robin Hood style.

This show toured nationally as Burt 'n' Joyce in 2005 and was a sell out hit show at the Edinburgh festival later that year.

"Mark Whiteley and Sherry Ormerod were perfect as Burt and Joyce, the rapport between them, the excellent timing of their words, made ordinary situations very funny." ****

"Good performances, well directed and a well-written piece of comedy that manages to become serious without mawkishness. "British Theatre Guide

****

Once upon a time there was a poor shoemaker who had no money not even to buy food for himself and his wife. He looked round his workshop, but all he found was just enough leather to make one pair of shoes. The Elves and the Shoemaker is a great show packed with Christmas magic, puppeteering as well as a classic timeless story.

We will be performing this in our venue in Saddleworth from 14th - 24th December 2009. This is a great alternative to Panto and is a great way to bring school parties in to venues. We usually perform one show at 10.30 and another at 13.30 schools really like this.
